Chhath Puja 2020: Fasting story 

As per the legends, there was a lord named Swayambhav Manu. He had a child names Priyavand. Priyavand didn’t have any kids, and that is the reason he used to stay miserable. At that point, Maharishi Kashyap played out a soneshti yagna and made contributions to his significant other, because of which the sovereign’s imagined yet a dead child was conceived. 

Ruler Priyavand went to the crematorium with that dead child and attempted to murder himself bu consuming in the dead child’s fire. Simultaneously, Chhath od Shashti Devi showed up and saw his dead child on the ground. The Goddess at that point, got the youngster and resurrected him. After this, the Goddess asked Priyanvand to revere her, and whenever satisfied, she will expand the age of his child. The lord at that point returned home and performed customs to please Shashthi Devi with extraordinary eagerness. 

On the day this occurrence occurred, and the lord performed puja was the Shashthi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month due to which, the Chhath Puja got its date, and the festivals started.
