Mumbai: Former India skipper and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar lost one of his dear companions due to Covid. Previous Mumbai paceman Vijay Shirke, who had played with the cricket ‘Expert Blaster’ and Vinod Kambli, surrendered to Covid related difficulties at a Thane emergency clinic on Sunday (Dec 20) night. He was 57. 

In October this year, Tendulkar had lost another dear companion, Avi Kadam, because of COVID-19. 

TOI cited a dear companion of Shirke saying that he had moved to Thane a couple of years back and died at an emergency clinic in Thane. “Evidently, he had recuperated from COVID, prior to capitulating to its confusions,” Shirke’s companion told the distribution. 

Conceived and raised in Kalyan, Shirke was additionally a mentor for a very long time in Thane at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Under-17 day camp.

He would go to our school (Shardashram) and give us our month to month recompense (Rs 200) that we would get from Sungrace Mafatlal around then! Afterward, when we turned 18, Sungrace Mafatlal gave us an occupation as well. I addressed him just seven days back. We would wish one another ‘hello’ regular. Nonetheless, since the last three-four days, his messages quit coming,” the previous Indian batsman added. 

Previous India pacer and current boss selector Salil Ankola too communicated his anguish on Shirke’s downfall. “Gone too early my companion. Find happiness in the hereafter my companion. Extraordinary occasions we had on and off the field can never be failed to remember Vijay Shirke,” he wrote in a Facebook post. 

“Since the previous evening, when I heard the news. I have been left puzzled. Vijay was the foundation of our group in difficult stretches during the matches as he used to deliver the weight by his happy nature and assistance. You will consistently be in my recognition and appreciation. Bye and Rest in Peace my dear companion,” previous India cricketer Suru Naik wrote in a post.
