The actor Mihir Das has been suffering from kidney problems for the past few years. He was admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack about a month ago, where he remained on ventilator support and dialysis was ongoing.

Veteran actor Mihir Das died on Tuesday while seeking treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack, bringing a pall of doom to the Odia film industry. He was 63 years old at the time.

Mihir, born in the Mayurbhanj area on February 11, 1959, made his acting debut in the art film ‘School Master.’ In 1979, he made his commercial breakthrough with ‘Mathura Bijay.’ For his stunning performances in ‘Laxmi Pratima,’ released in 1998, and ‘Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni,’ published in 2005, the veteran actor received the State government’s best actor award. He earned the ‘best comedian’ award for the film ‘Mu Tate Love Karuchhi,’ released in 2007. On the other hand, people will never forget his outstanding performance in ‘Pua Mora Bholashankara.’

Mihir Das was a well-known figure in Odisha, and he was famous for his acting abilities. Baijayant Panda, the National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressed his condolences on losing the iconic actor. Panda took to Twitter to say, “Hearing the news has left me speechless. It’s the end of an epoch. I send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
