Avatar 2 is definitely coming to cinemas in December 2022, ending the long wait for fans to return to Pandora.
It sounds a bit like Cameron wasn't quite ready for what he was going to do, either, when the sequel was first planned to arrive in 2014.
The decision to set the majority of the movie underwater is one of several factors why it's taken so long to arrive.
"It sounds kind of nuts, the process," Cameron admitted to EW about his plan for the sequel.
"I mean, if Avatar hadn't made so much damn money, we'd never do this — because it's kind of crazy."
