The Houston Texans are reorganizing their offense by releasing skill-position players. The Texans made another move a day after claiming running back Eno Benjamin
off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals. Wednesday, Houston claimed wide receiver Amari Rodgers off waivers, per ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime.
After he fumbled a punt return in Sunday's victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers released the 23-year-old. Rodgers' inability to maintain possession of the football
has been a persistent issue throughout his 26-game career, as evidenced by his seven career fumbles. This season, four of these turnovers occurred on punt returns.
Rodgers, a 2022 third-round pick out of Clemson, has averaged 7.0 yards per punt return and 20.3 yards per kick return. Four of eight targets were caught for 50 yards.
The worst record in the NFL, 1-7-1, gives Houston waiver priority. In an effort to aid the league's 29th-ranked offense, the Texans employed it twice in the past two days.
Rodgers will join a receiving unit anchored by Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins, who were picked four choices after Rodgers in 2021.
